Food recalls are issued when a product is unsafe for customers to consume, or it could cause harm to someone with allergies. Now, Aldi is recalling one of its chocolate products because of an undeclared ingredient.
The supermarket is the latest company to recall a food product that could cause harm to some people if eaten.
The Moser Roth The Collection Milk, White, and Dark Chocolates are being recalled because they contain egg which is not mentioned on the label.
This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg.
The Moser Roth chocolates come in a pack 160g in size and all best before dates are affected.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) informed customers on its website about the action Aldi is taking to keep them safe.
It stated: “Aldi is recalling the above product from customers and have been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.
“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”

The FSA’s advice to customers is to avoid consuming the Moser Roth chocolates.
The company continued: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg do not eat it.
“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Aldi’s advice was similar. The supermarket said in its notice: “Our supplier is recalling this product because the product contains egg, which is not declared on the label.
“Customers who are allergic to egg should not consume the product and can return it to one of our stores for a full refund.”
The German retailer added: “We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation.”
It also advised visited www.aldi.co.uk for more information, or contacting its customer service team.
The latter’s details can be found on www.customerservice.aldi.co.uk/contact.
The Moser Roth chocolate collection is not the only product Aldi is recalling this week.
The supermarket is also withdrawing its Ready Roll Pizza from shelves.
This product comes in a pack size of 400g and a use by date of January 13, 2022.
It is being recalled because it was manufactured by BakeAway, which has found traces of salmonella in some of its products.
Salmonella symptoms typically include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.
Therefore, Aldi is again asking customers to return the bakery product to stores in exchange for a full refund.
