What can't your KitchenAid stand mixer do? The workhorse kitchen tool can make everything from ice cream to pasta with the help of attachments.
But if you own older attachments or had a secondhand KitchenAid gifted to you, you may wonder if these attachments work with a newer KitchenAid or if an older KitchenAid works with new attachments. Thanks to KitchenAid's Attachment Fit Guarantee, stand mixer and attachment parts should be compatible, regardless of how old they are.
"KitchenAid stand mixers have a universal power hub, which means that all attachments that go into the power hub will fit all stand mixers, regardless of age. Printed on the box of each KitchenAid attachment are the words, 'Fits all KitchenAid Stand Mixers,'" a statement begins on the company's website.
"To stand behind this guarantee, if your attachment does does not fit your KitchenAid Stand Mixer, KitchenAid will take the appropriate steps to ensure that you can effectively use attachments with your Stand Mixer, no matter how old the mixer or attachment," the explanation continues. There's one exception to this rule: The ice cream maker and the precise heat mixing bowl will not fit on the Artisan Mini (KSM3311/16) due to the bowl being too large for the mini base.
If you're unsure if an attachment fits your KitchenAid stand mixer or not, consider these three signs that they don't work together:
- The attachment falls out of the mixer following fastening of the attachment knob.
- The attachment spins or wobbles in the mixer hub while using your stand mixer.
- The attachment loosens during use, and even falls off of the mixer hub.
