‘Easy’ banana ice cream recipe is ‘super healthy’ – contains just 4 ingredients

The weather in the UK is pretty scorching and there’s nothing better on a hot day than a bowl of ice cream.

But while there are plenty of options in supermarkets and the ice cream vans roaming the streets, making your own is even more fun.

BBC Good Food shared how ice cream lovers can make their own banana concoction.

Taking just five minutes to prep, you can be out enjoying the sun in no time at all.

BBC Good Food described the “easy” recipe as a “no-churn ice cream that’s low-fat, super healthy and counts as one of your five-a-day”.

This recipe feeds for hungry ice cream fans, and is easy to make so a great one to get the kids or grandkids involved in.

It’s also super cheap with just four ingredients involved, so it won’t have you traipsing around the supermarket for too long.

This recipe calls for some delicious toffee or chocolate sauce and nuts, however cooks can get creative with fruit, marshmallows, sweets and chocolates for toppings.

Four ripe bananas, cut into chunks

Three to four tbsp milk

Two tbsp toasted flaked almonds

Two tbsp ready-made toffee or chocolate sauce


  1. Place the banana chunks on a flat tray and cover well.

  2. Freeze for at least one hour, or until frozen through.

  3. When ready, throw the banana into a food processor. With enough milk to achieve a creamy texture, whizz until smooth.

  4. Scoop into four bowls and then go crazy with toppings.
