Whether you’ve managed to hold onto your job amid surging pandemic-induced unemployment or not, it’s possible that the past few months have encouraged you to think about finally pursuing your dream career. If your idea of an ideal job somehow involves getting paid to eat cheese, it turns out that career switch might be more realistic than you’d think.

That’s not because the CARES act managed to create any cheese-based jobs, but because cheese crisps brand Whisps is on the hunt for its next “big cheese.” Starting today, they’re looking to add a new member to their Cheese Board. It might sound like a joke given all these cheesy puns, but there’s nothing funny about the salary and benefits the position entails: We’re talking $5000+ in cash, swag, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, all for a job that essentially involves eating free cheese for a year.

While the perks seem pretty good, this isn’t some no-show job. According to a press release, Whisps says its winner will be “paid hourly to assist in monthly product quality tests, new flavor evaluations, cheese evaluations, and brainstorms for new product ideas.” On top of that, they’ll be serving as a brand ambassador responsible for “spreading their love of cheese and cheese crisps with their community.”

In addition to branded swag, the member of the Cheese Board will get monthly shipments of Whisps Cheese Crisps, as well as secret flavors, curated cheese boards and even cheese wheels in exchange for quarterly tasting feedback. The winner will also acquire resume-boosting skills: they’ll be “trained by an artisan cheesemonger in how to better evaluate cheeses” and even attend a virtual class about assembling the ultimate charcuterie board. Best of all, they’ll get some invaluable in-field experience, as the role entitles the lucky winner to $2,000 cash they can use to attend the 2022 World Cheese Championships.

The search for the next Cheese Executive Officer runs through July 25, which apparently is national wine and cheese day. So take a gouda look at your resume if you want to brie the winner (I’m so sorry). Anyone who’s 21 or over can apply to get that cheddar here.
