Giving up booze comes with many benefits, and weight loss is just one of them.

Many forget about the calories in alcohol when dieting, but they can be substantial.

“Studies have shown that you can lose a pound a week by giving up the booze and also improve other health measures such as blood pressure and improve your heart.”

The link between alcohol and weight gain has been long established by scientists.

The extra calories from the sugar in alcohol is stored as fat, leading to the dreaded beer belly.

If that was not enough, alcohol causes people to eat more, and to make unhealthy choices.

A study with mice found that those who has been given alcohol over three days ate significantly more food.

Beer is the worst option when it comes to calories content.

A pint of beer contains around 208 calories.

A glass of wine contains around 123 calories.

Another food you should cut from your diet plan to lose weight in sugar. 

Nutritionalist Shona Wilkinson told “To put it bluntly – sugar gives us empty calories and contributes to weight gain.

“Sugar makes our food taste great, gives us a quick boost of energy, and makes us feel good – at least temporarily – but when consumed frequently it can have negative effects on our health and well-being.

“Sugar is also difficult to get away from – it is hidden where we don’t expect to find it.

“It is in canned foods, sauces, soups, breads, ready meals, crisps and most other processed foods – so watch out for this and read labels.”
