This week, the health show followed Zoe, a woman whose constant cravings were “taking control of her life”.
Zoe works from home and regularly consumes between 5,000 and 8,000 calories a day, which is three times the recommended amount.
She spends the day snacking and her sweet cravings are dangerously taking control of her life.
She described herself as a “hard-working mum”, but admitted she often feels “like a walking zombie”.
To keep energised, Zoe just eats fast food.
“I don’t feel guilty until I’ve eaten them,” Zoe said.
She also admitted mash potatoes and chips are the only vegetables she’s eating at the moment.
Trisha Goddard, Dr Amir Khan and nutritionist Kate Llewellyn-Waters are set to help her change her diet and lifestyle completely.
Dr Khan explains the high amount of sugar she consumes is “poison” for her body.
After an examination, Zoe’s medical results showed that her blood pressure was high.
She admitted she eats sweets not only “for the sake of it” but also to feel better, after having struggled with depression for many years.
“All that sugar in my body… I feel disgusting. I’ve been eating rubbish so I feel rubbish,” she said.
Nutritionist Kate Llewellyn-Waters warned her she had to cut down on sugary foods, which Zoe did completely.
“A diet filled with sugar has been shown to increase the risk of depression,” she explained.
The expert recommended olive oil and sweet potatoes to include in her diet plan as well as wild salmon, which is high in omega 3 to promote a good mood.
“It’s really important that you include omega 3 sources in your diet such as fatty fish, nuts and seeds.”
The trio also recommended her exercising daily not only for her weight loss but for her mental health too.
Zoe had previously admitted she “can’t keep up with the children” as she is “always out of breath”.
After eight weeks, Zoe lost six pounds. “I’m a bit disappointed,” she admitted.
However, the trio explained this is about improving her mental health as well as improving her physical health and being healthier so she can play with her children.
“It’s a marathon, not a sprint,” Dr Khan said.
