Queen Letizia, 49, is admired by many for her glamorous style and slim figure. The Queen of Spain stays fit and healthy following a specific diet.

The beautiful monarch is reportedly a follower of the Perricone Diet.

The Perricone Diet consists of eating foods that reduce inflammation and contain anti-ageing properties.

Doctor Nicholas Perricone created the popular meal plan which is also considered one of the most effective to lose weight.

The diet is very specific and Queen Letizia makes sure she follows it rigorously and has the recommended foods on a daily basis to stay in shape.

The Perricone Diet says there are two main foods that need to be consumed: fresh fish and iron-rich vegetables.

Therefore, Queen Letizia eats fish every day and she reportedly likes to have salmon for breakfast.

Salmon in any form, such as smoked, is an ideal and delicious food to have in the morning.

It is also rich in omega-3 fatty and antioxidants, which contribute to the monarch’s radiant skin.

It is also reported the mother-of-two has the same breakfast every morning: an omelette with three eggs.

A diet high in protein has been proven to help slim down.

In fact, Dr Michael Mosley explained that having eggs for breakfast is a very effective way to lose weight.

Royal insiders claimed a smoothie and an omelette with smoked salmon is Queen Letizia’s favourite breakfast.

Dieters who follow the Perricone Diet should have a nutritious but healthy lunch such as vegetables or fish.

Grilled vegetables, a salad and grilled white fish are great options for lunch.

In terms of snacks, Dr Perricone recommends filling and healthy snacks such as nuts, yoghurt, fruit or olives.

Slimmers are meant to drink three litres of water a day. Queen Letizia reportedly enjoys having green tea due to its antioxidant properties.

While following the Perricone diet, saturated fats, refined sugars, pasta, bread or cheese are not recommended and should be avoided.

According to Dr Perricone results can be seen after just 28 days.

Dr Perricone explained: “One of the greatest joys of my research has been discovering the role of essential nutrients in the foods we eat and how they affect our beauty, health and longevity. What I often refer to as ‘superfoods’ are those with notably anti-inflammatory, healing and rejuvenating properties, which have been forgotten in today’s world of fast and processed food.”

Raquel González, director of the brand in Spain, said: “It is not a diet to follow continuously, but it is perfect to do a skin reset and to get used to eating better.”
