Shirley Ballas has been a judge on the reality show Strictly Come Dancing since 2017. She is known for her slim figure and spoken about her weight loss in the past. What diet plan does she use?
As well as her gig as a judge, Shirley has enjoyed a career as a ballroom dancer and dance teacher.
With such an active career, it is no surprise she has managed to maintain a slim figure.
However, the dancer has admitted to using a diet plan after gaining weight over the last few months.
“I am fat. I can’t fit in my trousers but I am not going up another dress size,” she told The Sun.
“I have gained 20 pounds from when you last photographed me, but I am six pounds down this morning.”
Shirley explained she is trying to slim to her “normal” weight of 8st 8lb before Strictly Come Dancing airs later this year.
To do this, she has been using an intermittent fasting diet plan.
Those who follow the diet will only eat within a certain time window each day and they will fast for the remaining hours.
In a study published in the National Library of Medicine, those who tested the plan noticed their waistline shrink by between four and seven percent.
It also showed that slimmers lost three to eight percent of their weight within a three to 24 week period – which it claimed is more than most weight loss plans.
Shirley revealed she has been using a small window of six hours to slim her waistline, only eating between 12pm and 6pm.
This isn’t the first time the dancing favourite has transformed her lifestyle.
Appearing on Loose Women in the past, Shirley revealed the pounds had steadily crept on over the years.
“For 50 years of my life I never weighed myself at all,” she told the presenters.
“I would go by how my clothes fit, but I was back in England to take care of my mother while she was getting better.
“The pounds crept on and I got a little bit nervous about it.”
At the time, the TV judge turned to intermittent fasting once again to get back on track.
She said she embarked on a weight loss journey to help her feel more comfortable in her own skin.
The judge continued: “(Telly ready) is to be the best you feel when you walk out on camera so you feel good in the clothes you’ve got on.
“It’s not about what somebody else thinks about you, it’s about what I feel like in my own clothes in my own skin.”
