Sue dropped two dress sizes, from a 16 to a 12. It is a diet success most would like to replicate, so how did she do it?

Sue, 58, started a particular diet inspired by a region of the UK.

She started following the Mediterranean diet in 2016.

The actress has diabetes, and so has to be careful with what she eats.

This was exemplified when, in 2011, she had a health scare at work.

A told The Sun: “Sue was looking pretty off at around 9 am just as we were getting things ready for filming.

“Then all of a sudden she just seemed to collapse and everyone was panicking.

“The on-site medics were called and they were very quick to get to her.

“She informed them that she was having some kind of attack brought on by her diabetes and they agreed that that’s what it looked like.

“An ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital just to be on the safe side.”

So, eating properly is important for the star.

A source told Woman magazine about Sue’s diet: “Sue was always a self-confessed foodie, who admitted that over-indulgence was her Achilles Heel. Now everything’s changed.

“Sue’s in her mid-50s so it was a no-brainer that cutting down on certain things was what she had to do.

“She’s in this for the long game and wants to live a long, happy and healthy life.”

What is the Mediterranean diet?

The Mediterranean diet is one that mimics diets eaten in the region of the world.

These are foods popular in Spain, Greece, Italy, and France.

It advocates for eating healthy oils and fresh produce.

The diet is high in veggies and fruit, beans, nuts, fish, and olive oil.

There is relatively little meat and dairy in the diet.

For carb-lovers, bread and pasta are welcomed on the diet.

A typical breakfast on the plan might be a pan-fried egg with grilled tomatoes and wholewheat toasts.

A salmon salad would be a typical lunch or perhaps a salad with grilled veg.

Dinner may be roasted vegetables and fish or a pizza.
