Weight loss transformation: One woman shed staggering 5st 7lb with diet plan change

MuscleFood ambassador on the ‘five myths of dieting’

Diet and exercise are important when trying to reach weight loss goals. One woman added more protein, fruits and vegetables into her plan to help her slim.

Korina Loukanari, from Gloucester, would often skip meals during the day and fill up on unhealthy foods in the evening.

Tipping the scales at 14st 7lb, she favored bland and beige food, often eating an entire box of cereal for dinner.

“I’d always struggled with my weight as a child. I ate a really boring, beige diet without many vegetables, so my weight often fluctuated as a result,” Korina stated.

The slimmer revealed she would get picked on for her weight which led her to make more unhealthy choices.

When her appearance was picked on by a stranger, however, Korina decided it was time to make a change.

She started reassessing her diet plan and considered how she could become healthier.

The dieter continued: “It all came to a head a few years ago when I was sat on a bus with my friend and a boy essentially told me I wasn’t attractive due to my size.”

When changing her diet, Korina began preparing nutritious meals in advance so she wouldn’t be tempted by convenient junk food.

She also upped how much protein she was eating, ordering from food delivery service musclefood, and made sure to add plenty of fruits and vegetables to her diet.

“I ordered a batch of musclefood’s chicken breasts and started meal prepping,” she continued.

“Since then, I’ve developed a much healthier relationship with food which has helped to keep the weight off.

“My meals have changed from beige, carb loaded plates to colourful food involving lots of fish and vegetables.”

Korina combined the healthy eating plan with regular workouts in the gym, visiting five times a week before coronavirus restrictions were enforced.

The transformation helped her drop 5st 7lb to nine stone and she slimmed down to a toned size 8.

Not only did the numbers on the scales go down, she explained her confidence had improved.

“I’ve had a complete U-turn in the way I view my body,” Korina continued, “I used to comfort eat and not think about looking after it.”

Eating foods high in protein can promote weight loss by helping slimmers stay fuller for longer.

The body also burns more calories while trying to digest protein compared to other foods, experts at Healthline.com reported.

They stated: “About 20 to 30 percent of protein calories are burned while the body is digesting and metabolizing the protein.”

High protein foods include meat, fish, beans, pulses, dairy and eggs.
