Dhaba style mash daal

Enjoy with roti or naan and your eyes will never have enough!!

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups Mash daal (urad lentil)
  2. to taste Salt
  3. 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  4. 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  5. 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  6. 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  7. 2 tbsp Fenugreek
  8. 2 medium onions
  9. 2 medium tomatoes
  10. Coriander half bunch
  11. 2 tbsp Garlic
  12. 2 tbsp Ginger
  13. 3 Green chilies

Steps

  1. Add one tablespoon of ginger. Leave some for garnishing. Add two tablespoons of garlic.

  2. Add green chilies and tomatoes until soft

  3. Add red chili pepper, turmeric powder, garam masala 1/2 teaspoon. Cook until oil comes on the top

  4. Add lentils with one cup of warm water.

  5. Cook on medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes.

  6. Now add remaining garam masala, ginger (Julian cut), fenugreek and coriander.

  7. Heat up oil or ghee and put it as tarka.
