Overnight French toast bake

French toast is so time consuming for me because I have to make so much of it. This way was a breeze and Iam happy that I have 2 13×9 baking dishes so I can double this up , I found that one dish wasn’t enough , one dish would feed 3 people with no Second helpings . I started this at 10:30pm it took like maybe 10 mins if that , and popped that in the oven around 9am half asleep Waiting for the coffee to kick in ? set some timers and bam breakfast is done. Set it and forget it my kinda cooking lol . I did find that I thought it was to sweet for my liking with the brown sugar and butter on the bottom, that can be cut down to less as long as the bottom of the dish is covered, however my kids loved it and was licking ? the plate asking for more, then wishing I should have doubled it and made two . This is a game changer for them busy mornings or holiday mornings ,and if your like me lazy mornings and you hear when’s breakfast 100 times before you even get to the coffee pot .lol

Ingredients

  1. Bread
  2. 1/2 cup melted butter
  3. 1 cup brown sugar
  4. 1 1/2 cups milk
  5. 4 eggs
  6. 1 tablespoon Vanilla
  7. Cinnamon optional
  8. Toppings
  9. Confectioner sugar for dusting
  10. Syrup

Steps

  1. Melt butter in microwave

  2. In a bowl mix (mix well) melted butter and brown sugar together. In a 13×9 baking dish cover the bottom of it with the butter and brown sugar mixture cover evenly.

  3. In a bowl mix eggs milk and vanilla

  4. Place bread slices on top of brown sugar and butter mixture.I cut one piece of bread to fit on the side because it had a big gap I did that for both layers and Iam happy that I did, that is optional but I’d do it you get more.

  5. Using half of the egg and milk mixture pour over each piece of bread (can sprinkle cinnamon at this point if you like)

  6. Add the 2nd layer of bread and add the rest of the egg and milk mixture to each piece of bread and can add more cinnamon on top if you like. Wrap up and place in Refrigerator overnight.

  7. Bake at 350 for 30 mins with aluminum foil on. Remove foil after 30 mins and cook for 15 more mins.

  8. Notes- I put it on the broiler setting for the last 2-5 mins to get the top done a little more and a little crunch to it. I cut this into strips Iam not sure if you can see that in the picture, because this was made for kids or can cut it the shape of the bread.
