There’s nothing better than biting into a salad or a sandwich with fresh lettuce. Whether it’s Romaine lettuce, Iceberg lettuce or bags of lettuce, the leafy greens should last long enough for people to enjoy for multiple meals.

However, greens can quickly decay, and go limp or soggy if left at the bottom of the fridge.

With this in mind, fans of cleaning and home influencer Mrs Hinch, whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe, have shared their food storage hacks for longer-lasting lettuce.

The lifestyle influencer has more than 4.7 million followers on Instagram and often shares her own food, cleaning and home hacks on the social media platform.

Fans of hers have taken to social media in recent years to share their own methods for solving common household problems like storing food.

It lasts for ages.”

Josephine O Sullivan posted: “Remove it from the plastic bag and if it’s moist, dry it.

“Then, wrap it in kitchen roll, or wrap it in a dry, clean tea towel and place it in the fridge.”

Kitchen roll can be found in most homes but those who don’t have any can buy it from most local supermarkets.

Wilko Kitchen Towel 1 Roll 2 Ply costs £2.
