Bananas can go gooey and brown in what feels like no time at all, unless you have a few food storage hacks up your sleeve.<\/p>\n

Dole Food, one of the world’s largest producers of fruit and vegetables, shared how banana lovers can keep this fruit fresh and fabulous for longer.<\/p>\n

Many people keep their bananas on the kitchen counter or fruit bowl, but this might not be the optimal place for them.<\/p>\n

Dole Food explained that bananas should be kept cool and protected from the light, stored at around 12\u00b0C, as they will ripen quicker if they are too warm.<\/p>\n

The experts said: “A darker room without direct sunlight is ideal. A warm kitchen is therefore not the best place for your bananas.”<\/p>\n

If your bananas are already ripe, pop them in the fridge (they won’t ripen any further in this cool environment).<\/p>\n

And don’t worry if the skin turns brown, it won’t impair the taste of the banana – unless perhaps you’re planning on eating the skin.<\/p>\n

A special trick for preserving bananas that have already been sliced up is to add a little juice.<\/p>\n
